Manuscript Preparation

1. Checklist Before Submission

1) I followed the guide for authors of the Journal of Korean Society of Water and Wastewater.

2) Title page must include title, all author's name and affiliations, corresponding author's information.

3) The abstract should not exceed 300 words (It is not necessary to provide the abstract for Technical Note and Discussion & Reply). A maximum of 5 keywords are provided in alphabetical order after the abstract. 4) All measures should be reported in SI units.

5) A caption of table is placed above the table, and caption of figure is placed under the figure. Appropriate locations of tables and figures should be marked in the body of the manuscript.

6) References were followed the guide for the authors of the Journal of Korean Society of Water and Wastewater.

2. Manuscript Structure

1) Introduction: Clearly present the purpose and necessity of the study and introduce the related background. Rather than listing the results of previous research in detail, the importance of the authors’ research should be logically explained.

2) Materials and Methods: The methods and tools of the study must be described in detail and precisely so that other researchers can reproduce the authors’ work. A reference for each method should be clearly stated, and the modification of an existing method should be explained in detail. The model name, company name, and city and country where the company of the research materials, tools, and equipment is located should be described in parentheses in that order.

3) Results: Results should be clear and concise. Dividing the results into proper subsections is recommended to improve readability.

4) Discussion: Academic discussion on research findings and relevant references should appear. It is also possible to compose a manuscript by integrating the “Discussion” section and “Results” section into a “Results and Discussion” section.

5) Conclusions: This is an optional section briefly explaining the critical conclusions of the study. The “Conclusion” section may also appear as a subsection of the “Discussion” section.

3. Format of Manuscript

1. Preparation method
Manuscripts should be written in Korean or English using A4 (210*297㎜) size paper with ShinMyeongJo in Korean, Times New Roman font in English, font size of 11, and line spacing = double. Use Hancom softwater or MS word for the manuscript preparation. The cover and manuscript file should be submitted separately. Submissions should be limited to 8 printed pages if possible. Technical notes, and Discussions and Replies should be limited to 4 printed pages if possible.

2. Manuscript Format 2.1 In the cover file, only the title, author name, and affiliation should be written in both Korean and English. Corresponding authors are marked with “ * ” in the upper right corner of their names and their contact information (telephone, fax, and e-mail address). If the authors' affiliations (department, organization name, and detailed address including zip code) are different, this needs to be indicated with a number in the upper right corner of the author's name.

2.2 The manuscript file is written in Korean and English. In the case of Korean, the paper should be arranged in the following order: abstract (English), keywords (English, Korean), introduction, research methods (or materials and experimental methods), results, consideration (or results and considerations), conclusion, history, symbol explanation, references (English), tables (English), and figures (English). In the case of English, the order should be: abstract, abstract (Korean), key words, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusion, acknowledgments, references, tables, and figures.

2.3 The title must express the content of the paper accurately and concisely. The first letter of the title should be capitalized in English. In the case of a Korean paper, write the English title under the Korean title. In the case of an English paper, write the Korean title under the English title.

2.4 The abstract should be written in English. The purpose and major achievements of the paper should be described. Its length should be less than 300 words if possible. However, abstracts are not necessarily required for Technical notes or Discussions and Replies.

2.5 No more than five keywords should be written at the bottom of the abstract in Korean or English.

Headings are unified with ‘Keywords’ in Korean and ‘Keywords’ in English. The first letter of keyword is capitalized.

2.6 Numbering in the text is expressed in Arabic numerals as illustrated below. Ex) 1. Introduction, 2. Materials and methods (2.1, 2.1.1), 3. Results and Discussion, 4. Conclusions

2.7 The SI unit system should be used for all units. Serial numbers are indicated in Arabic numerals for formulas in principle.
